Deutsche Sportfotografie im Kalten Krieg

Die deutsche Sportfotografie von 1945 bis 1990 war nicht allein davon geprägt, sportliche Höhepunkte für das Publikum dauerhaft festzuhalten. Denn im Wettkampf auf dem Fußballplatz und in der olympischen Arena maßen sich einerseits Athleten, gleichzeitig aber auch rivalisierende Gesellschaftssysteme. Politiker in Ost und West griffen immer wieder in die Ausgestaltung, die Symbolik oder die Interpretation des Sportgeschehens ein. Die ideologische Aufladung blieb nicht ohne Einfluss auf das Handwerk der Sportfotografen: Ihre Bilder transportierten, freiwillig oder unfreiwillig, zahlreiche politische Sub-Texte; sie waren mit tagespolitischen und gesellschaftlichen Bezügen eng verwoben. Das scheinbar harmlose Sportfoto vermittelt somit nicht allein die Faszination des Sports, sondern illustriert gleichzeitig die Konflikte eines Zeitalters. In der Schau werden die historisch-politischen Schichten herausragender Sportbilder freigelegt und ihr Quellenwert für die Zeithistoriker erläutert
