Auf den Spuren des Abfalls
Die Müllsammler Indiens

ausgerichtet von: Gesellschaft für Humanistische Fotografie in Zusammenarbeit mit LEZ, BMZ und GTZ
Drei Monate lang begleitete und dokumentierte der Fotograf Enrico Fabian in Zusammenarbeit mit der indischen Hilfsorganisation Chintan das Leben der Kabaris, der Müllverwerter Indiens. Er folgte den Abfällen der Megametropole Neu Delhi weit über die Stadtgrenzen hinaus und verbrachte Wochen auf riesigen Müllbergen und in einem komplexen System aus Recyclingstätten. Die Kabaris halten die Städte am Leben, da sie täglich tausende Tonnen Müll beseitigen und diesen für die Wiederverwertung aufbereiten in Zeiten immer knapper werdender natürlicher Ressourcen ist dies wichtiger denn je.
Die Dokumentation gibt einen Einblick in das Leben dieser Menschen und erzählt die Geschichte derer, welche sich täglich unter unvorstellbaren Bedingungen um die Beseitigung und Aufbereitung teilweise auch unseres Mülls kümmern. Trotz der Bedeutung und Schwierigkeit ihrer Arbeit erhalten sie nur ein unzureichendes Einkommen und werden sozial ausgegrenzt.
