Der Düsseldorfer Bildhauer und Grafiker Gerolf Schülke stellt seit 2005 fotografische Abbilder einfacher Wiesenkräuter her. Die Arbeiten entstehen während der hellen Sommermonate in Südfinnland.
Die Bilder sind ohne Kamera als Fotogramme auf lichtempfindlichem Cyanotypiepapier hergestellt. Der blaue Farbton des entwickelten Fotopapiers, auf dem die Pflanzen sich in unterschiedlichen Helligkeiten abzeichnen, abstrahiert die Darstellung und erzeugt einen distanzierten, schwebenden Eindruck. Das historische Fotoverfahren Cyanotypie, auch Blaudruck oder Blaupause genannt, wurde 1842 erfunden. Dabei wird das präparierte Papier mit Sonnenlicht belichtet und einfach in Wasser entwickelt.
Für die Ausstellung vergrößerte Gerolf Schülke seine originalen Cyanotypien als Tintenstrahldrucke auf das dreifache Format. Wirkung und Charakter der kleinen Originale blieben erhalten, zugleich erhöht die Vergrößerung jedoch den Abstraktionsgrad der Abbildung.
