Michael Ruetz präzis gestaltete Fotografien der 1968er-Bewegung sind längst zu Ikonen geworden. Mehr als 160.000 Besucher sahen vor zwei Jahren seine Ausstellung DIE UNBEQUEME ZEIT in der Akademie der Künste am Pariser Platz.
Unter dem Titel EYE ON LIFE zeigt die Galerie PHOTOKUNST Johanna Breede nun Werke von Michael Ruetz aus 45 Jahren, u.a. mit vintage prints der berühmten Motive aus den 1960er Jahren.
Ruetz Aufnahmen aus dem Zentrum der jugendlichen Revolte sind Klassiker der street photography. Aus dem unvorhersehbaren und spontanen Geschehen gewinnt der Fotograf klare Strukturen, die im Gedächtnis haften bleiben. Eine Choreografie der Ereignisse, welche die Emotionen des Einzelnen ebenso ins Bild setzt wie die Kraft des Augenblicks. Die Bilder sind Auftakt zu einem Werk von hoher künstlerischer Qualität. In teilweise meditativen Kompositionen und Bildzyklen thematisiert Michael Ruetz Aspekte der Wahrnehmung von Raum und Zeit, Nähe und Distanz, Erinnerung und Veränderung.
