Irgendwie mittendrin. Leben in der Badstraße

Stadtleben ist Straßenleben. Und jede Straße hat ihre Geschichte wie auch die Badstraße, eine Geschäftsstraße im Wedding: früher mondäner Erholungsort, heute Dönerbuden und die üblichen Handelsketten. Nach 1945 war sie der Boulevard der Grenzgänger, im Volksmund auch Petticoat Lane genannt. Mit ausbleibender Kundschaft nach dem Mauerbau erfuhr sie einen wirtschaftlichen Niedergang. Gebäude verfielen oder wurden für städtebauliche Konzepte abgerissen. Stets lebten, arbeiteten und flanierten die kleinen Leute auf dem Boulevard des Nordens. Heute gehört die Badstraße zum Großbezirk Mitte. Damit ist sie wieder irgendwie mittendrin, jedoch längst nicht so angesagt wie die sich anschließende Brunnenstraße, wo sich die Kreativen der neuen Mitte sehen lassen und gesehen werden.
Das Landesarchiv zeigt Fotografien aus der Badstraße von1950 bis zur Gegenwart eindringliche Momentaufnahmen alltäglichen Lebens. Die Aufnahmen stammen von den FotografInnen der Landesbildstelle Berlin.
