Die räumliche "Rückeroberung" von städtischen Plätzen

In allen kleinen oder großen Städten war der Marktplatz ein zentraler Ort. Hier stand einst das Rathaus, hier befand sich das Zentrum des Handels. Im Laufe der Zeit verlor der Marktplatz seine wirtschaftliche Bedeutung und wurde gleichzeitig seiner Funktion als Ort der Kommunikation und Begegnung der Bürger beraubt. Er wurde Teil des Straßennetzes und Abstellplatz für Autos. Im Rahmen der Altstadtsanierung Spandaus und der Umwandlung zur Fußgängerzone wurde die alte Örtlichkeit den Bürgern als Lebensraum zurückgegeben, so dass jetzt nicht nur Platz für den Wochenmarkt ist, sondern auch Raum zum Verweilen, Einkaufen und Spielen. Die Ausstellung zeigt Aufnahmen des Marktes aus dem vergangenen Jahrhundert von 1900 2000.
