Die EMERSON Gallery Berlin präsentiert Fotografien von Leonard Nimoy (geb. 1931 in Boston, USA), der vor allem durch seine Verkörperung des legendären Mr. Spock in der Kultserie Raumschiff Enterprise international berühmt wurde.
Weniger bekannt sind Nimoys sehr sinnliche, zumeist schwarzweiße Fotografien. In seiner ersten Fotoausstellung in Berlin sind Aufnahmen aus der Serie The Full Body Project zu sehen. Äußerst sensibel konterkariert Leonard Nimoy nicht nur das schlanke Schönheitsideal der Supermodels, sondern auch die rein kommerzielle Modefotografie an sich. Indem er die nackten Körper vollschlanker, temperamentvoller und sehr sinnlicher Frauen ablichtet, enthüllt er im doppelten Sinn des Wortes die Fragwürdigkeit des Genres und seiner diskriminierenden Leitbildfunktion im Hinblick auf die jeweils propagierten idealen Körpermaße. Nimoys Frauen nehmen Posen in kompositorischer Nachahmung bekannter Ikonen der Kunst- und Medienwelt ein.
