Emil Otto Hoppé(18781972) wurde als Sohn deutsch-englischer Eltern in München geboren. Seine Stellung als Bankangestellter in London gab er 1907 zugunsten der Fotografie auf. Bereits vor dem 1.Weltkrieg gewann er großes Renommee als Porträtfotograf und Kenner der englischen Fotoszene. Im Deutschland der Weimarer Republik wurde er vor allem durch viel beachtete Fotobuch-Publikationen bekannt; für die OrbisTerrarum-Reihe steuerte er dieBände über England und die USA bei. In seinem Berliner Studio porträtierte er für den UFA-Konzern zahlreiche Filmstars wie Brigitte Helm und Lilian Harvey. Weitere Fotobücher erschienen in den folgenden Jahrzehnten, u. a. über London unddeutsche Kleinstädte sowie der Band Deutsche Arbeit. Bilder vom Wiederaufstieg Deutschlands. Dieses Hohelied auf die Faszination der Industrie vor allem Berlins markiert Hoppés Übergang zur modernistischen Fotografie.
Die Ausstellung zeigt 65 vintage prints aus Deutsche Arbeit und 15 ausgewählte Porträtaufnahmen.
