"Der ausländische Mitbürger"
Arbeitsmigranten in Fotografien der Berliner öffentlichen Verwaltung um 1970

Gegenstand der Ausstellung sind Fotografien von Arbeitsmigrantinnen und Arbeitsmigranten im Berlin um 1970. Die Bilder entstanden im Auftrag von Berliner Behörden von Fotografinnen und Fotografen der Landesbildstelle Berlin, der Bezirksbildstellen und anderer West-Berliner Institutionen. Obwohl die Arbeiten seit ihrer Entstehung ständig zugänglich waren, sind sie kaum in das allgemeine Bildgedächtnis eingegangen. In einer Ausstellung nimmt das Mitte Museum die überwiegend als Bildfolgen entstandenen Aufnahmen wieder in den Blick. Die Bilder von ausländischen Mitbürgern so der damals offizielle Sprachgebrauch werden hier als Zeugnisse der Fotografiegeschichte präsentiert. Sie werden in der Ausstellung zugleich als Bildquellen zur Migrationsgeschichte in Deutschland sichtbar gemacht.
