Der IBB-Preis für Photographie ist eine gemeinsame Initiative der Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB) und des Freundeskreises der Universität der Künste Berlin e.V. Karl Hofer Gesellschaft (KHG). Der Preis ist mit 5.000 dotiert.
Gefördert werden herausragende Absolventen der Universität der Künste, deren Abschluss nicht länger als fünf Jahre zurück liegt und die nicht älter als 35 Jahre sind. Neben der speziellen Förderung junger Künstler soll der Preis generell die Entwicklung zeitgenössischer Fotografie dokumentieren.
Die IBB unterstreicht mit diesem seit 2007 existierenden Wettbewerb ihre Absicht, junge Künstler in Berlin zu fördern und ihnen die Möglichkeit zu bieten, ihre Werke einer breiten Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren. Die Kooperation mit der KHG und der Universität der Künste zeigt zudem die Bedeutung der Fotografie im Spektrum der modernen Kunst. Wohl kaum ein anderes Medium eignet sich so hervorragend dazu, das Zusammenwirken von Technologie und Kunst transparent zu machen.
