Stadtkonfrontationen / City Confrontations, das gemeinsame Projekt der slowakischen Fotografen Matú Zajac (*1971) und Michal Fulier (*1981), ist ein fotografischer Essay über die großen, pulsierenden Metropolen in Ost und West. Matú Zajac zeigt die asiatischen Städte Peking, Delhi und Hanoi als Gewimmel bewegender Ereignisse und unerwarteter Erlebnisse. Er ist auf der Suche nach der Identität der Bewohner dieser sich rasch entwickelnden Städte, in denen Vergangenheit und Zukunft mit ungeheurer Wucht aufeinanderprallen. Michal Fulier fotografiert menschliche Schicksale in den europäischen Großstädten London, Paris und Rom. Er sucht bewusst soziale Themen und alltägliche Situationen, erfasst das Leben der Menschen in der Konfrontation mit der Moderne und in der nervösen Bewegung der von der Stadt absorbierten Menschen.
Der Essay konfrontiert diese zwei Welten, zeigt Werden und Vergehen in diesen Brennpunkten der Moderne und offenbart, wie nah und fern diese Welten einander sind.
