Philip Wiegard (born 1977) makes use of various media and stylistic resources. The conceptual point of departure for his precisely choreographed works is to be found in clearly defined positions and stylistic directions in art history, design or the trivial culture of everyday, which appear in his work in the form of recognisable citations. In various groups of works Wiegard has investigated the use of perspective in different epochs of art history, as in connection with de Chirico and his pittura metafisica as the precursor of Surrealism.

For this exhibition the artist is converting the Laura Mars Gallery into a studio, setting up a backdrop for his photographs which at the same time functions as an installation and complements the photographic works presented here.
