The Italian community of Berlin is lively and multilayered, and it is very much a presence in the city. In a style that hovers between documentation and narrative, seven Italian photographers living in the capital have captured the lifestyle of their compatriots. Whether they are glimpsed at their own restaurant, on the street or at the club, whether they are workers, artists or DJs these photographs yield a multifaceted panorama of Italian society.
The pictures illustrate the activities of Italian associations (Piero Chiussi), show us Italian intellectuals working in the catering trade, tell us about the daily life of half-Italian families (Benedetta Grossrubatscher), show people in their private or professional environment (Emanuele Lami), report on the lives and visions of the first generation of immigrants (Gino Puddu), portray Italian homosexuals of various ages (Paolo Risser) and trace the nostalgia for Berlin of young Italians today (Luca Vecoli).
