In his series Born in Luxury the photographer Christian Doppelgatz shows young people from the Marzahn district of Berlin. The series consists of classic portraits as well as close-ups of personal details of clothing, jewellery or tatoos. The pictures question the cliché that is associated with the concept of problem adolescents. What do you think youre looking at?, then, is a question that each viewer can answer individually.

The photos were taken at a centre run by the Don Bosco Foundation in Berlin-Marzahn. The foundation is involved in various projects in this district, aimed at the reintegration of socially disadvantaged young people with no prospects.
