This year the Lette Verein celebrates its 120th anniversary as a photographic training establishment. When the Lette Verein Photographic School opened in the year 1890, it marked a new development in the vocational training open to women. The Photographic School was the first college institution to offer a professional training in photography. Leading personalities of the Photographic School included Marie Kundt (from 1891) and Anna Köppen (from 1900). In 1910 the school opened a faculty for men, which was directed by Carola Lohde. In 1962 the Photographic School was closed. Its technical departments became faculties of Berlins Technische Berufsfachschule [Technical and Vocational College] and its Photography department was transferred to the Gewerbliche Berufsfachschule [Commercial and Vocational College], later in 2003 becoming the department of Photographic Design at the Berufsfachschule für Design [Vocational College for Design].
On the occasion of this anniversary we are showing representative works by 24 photography graduates over a period of 120 years two for each decade.
