At a time when the liberated body has come to be a sales pitch, erotic marketing is revolutionising oversaturated markets and television shows feed us with illusory imaginations, a certain numbness finally begins to take over. Autism, self-abasement and narcissism are just a few of the terms that describe our present condition since the sexual revolution. In the end desire becomes introverted. The subject that is the object of dream relates to itself best. Couples now appear as two self-absorbed individuals separate from one another and yet on a shared journey, and so supposedly happy. But the other side of the coin is everywhere to be seen as loneliness. Against this background Carina Linges series of photos and objects Einsamer Eros [Solitary Eros] yields deep insights into the contemporary world of feelings, characterised as it is by damage, abandonment, sexual dependency and self-betrayal, depression and death.
