With the exhibition “Jahrgang Zwölf” (Twelfth Graduating Class), the graduates of the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin present their final projects. The 24 works range from documentary to conceptual photography, now and again crossing the boundary of two-dimensional presentation through animation, sculpture, and projection.

The photographers have a critical look at various realities—from countries in Africa to the US to different European countries and their own backyard: some of the issues concerning students are the refugee camps between Chad and Berlin, the peace process in Colombia, and connections between the arms and video gaming industries, as well as family ties, the world of dreams, or the nocturnal prowl of a fox in Berlin’s borough of Neukölln.

The exhibition will be accompanied by panel discussions, book presentations, and a guided tour by photo historian Dr. Enno Kaufhold. The Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie emerged out of the Ostkreuz – Agentur der Fotografen. The school was founded by Werner Mahler and Thomas Sandberg in 2005.
