PACK

Berlin: the birthplace of Tekkno. East & West united, celebrating at seemingly long forgotten places and telling their very own stories.

NO MAN’S LAND!

In the year 2005 I created my first musician portrait with Manuel Göttsching, one of the (if not THE) pioneers of electronic/conceptual sounds. The camera had long since become my companion again, and I, since its inception, a fixture in the house of Berghain.

It seemed natural somehow to portray the DJs and residents of the house: Tama Sumo, Boris, and of course Marcel Dettmann, with whom I have since enjoyed a collaboration of many years in front of and behind the camera. With the international development of this city, international artists were added, including Ryan Elliot, Function, Vatikan Shadow, Tale of us. A mixture of commissioned and free works, “PACK”, is the second project in this context after “The Bouncers (Rudel)”. (Sven Marquardt)

The basement of the gallery will feature a black box audio-video installation also originating from Berlin club culture. In the collaboration of two artists, around fifty of Marquardt's black-and-white photographs will fade into each other on four screens, accompanied by a sound loop especially mixed for this event by Marcel Dettmann.
