Yoram Roth: Staged Photography

Gerhard Kassner: Star portraits at the Berlinale

For the past fourteen years, as the official photographer of the Berlinale, Gerhard Kassner has been taking portraits of international film and TV stars. On a constantly updated basis, his photographs are hung in the Berlinale Palace and signed by the depicted stars prior to the gala premieres. In the end, they become part of the collection of the Deutsche Kinemathek.

Anatol Kotte: Portraits of politicians

Anatol Kotte carries out advertising commissions for well-known agencies at home and abroad with a focus on people, consumer goods, and cars. He takes portraits of prominent figures for the top German media. Kotte rose to become the favorite portrait photographer of DIE ZEIT, SZ, and other renowned magazines. His portrait of Merkel even made it onto the cover of TIME magazine. In a conversation, Kotte reveals how he manages to take an official portrait in the shortest time possible, “undercover,” among the bodyguards.
