Das Symposium stellt verschiedene Aspekte des noch jungen und fototheoretisch wenig erforschten Gebiets der Umweltfotografie vor. Wie wird die Umweltkrise in dokumentarischen und künstlerischen Positionen dargestellt? Welche historischen und zeitgenössischen Strategien gibt es in der Umweltfotografie, welche fototheoretischen Positionen? Welche Fotos haben tatsächlich Veränderungen angestoßen? Diese Fragen werden Referent*innen in ihren Vorträgen für das Symposium untersuchen.

On the occasion of the 100th birthday of Helmut Newton, a film program on the life and work of the photographer is shown for one week on the ground floor of the Museum of Photography, starting with Gero von Boehm's film "The Bad and the Beautiful" (2020).

Olaf Heine is a Berlin based and internationally working photographer. He studied photography and design at the Lette-Verein (Lette Society) in Berlin and is primarily known for his detailed and carefully staged portraits. His photographic works have been published on countless album covers, in international editorials, and the photographic books “Leaving the Comfort Zone” (2008), “I Love You but I’ve Chosen Rock” (2010), “Brazil” (2014), as well as “Rwandan Daughters” (2019). They have also been exhibited at the Camera Work Galerie Berlin, the Museum Folkwang in Essen, the Noorderlicht Fotogalerie in Groningen, the Salon Frieder Burda | Museum Frieder Burda and the Icon Gallery in Los Angeles, to name just a few. Besides collaborating with stars like U2, Iggy Pop, Coldplay, Radiohead, Sting, Nick Cave, and The Killers, he has shot international advertising campaigns and directed dozens of music videos for The Eagles or Rammstein.

Guided tour through the exhibition „Lothar Wolleh Raum 3 - Atmospheres of Imagination“ and introduction into Lothar Wolleh´s photographic Oeuvre.

In collaboration with Swiss composer Katharina Rosenberger berlin based photographer and video artist Betina Kuntzsch has developed a documentary video animation dealing with Rosenberger’s composition series „Urban Morphologies“. The world premiere took place within the scope of „UpToThree – augmented“, workshop festival by ensemble mosaik, early in august. We showcase the documentation of the concert.
