IZIS Paris der Träume
Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus e.V.
Anlässlich des 100. Geburtstages von Izis (Israëlis Bidermanas) zeigt der Freundeskreis Willy-Brandt-Haus e.V. zusammen mit dem Institut Français Berlin eine umfangreiche Retrospektive aus ca. 300 Werken des bekannten litauisch-französischen Fotografen. Die Ausstellung zeichnet ein faszinierendes Porträt des Fotografen, der 1930 mit 19 Jahren sein Heimatland verließ, um im Paris seiner Träume sein Glück zu finden. Nach dem Krieg arbeitete er als freier Journalist, ab 1949 als Pressefotograf für die Zeitschrift Paris Match. Bekannt wurde er vor allem durch seine Porträts z.B. von Jean Cocteau, Colette, Édith Piaf und vielen anderen Persönlichkeiten seiner Zeit.
Im Willy-Brandt-Haus zu sehen sind seine eindrucksvollen Porträts der Résistance-Kämpfer aus dem Jahre 1944, seine Bildreportagen Das ewige Paris (19451977), Der Charme von London (1952) und Israel 1955 ein Land im Aufbau.
1980 verstarb Izis in Paris.
