In this exhibition Hans Georg Esch is showing his independently created photographs of cities. The shots testify to Eschs fascination for the rapidly growing industrial metropolises to which his travels take him. While the first part of the exhibition, 'City', shows breathtaking urban views, in the second part, 'Structure', Esch gets inside the city and photographs exclusively the surfaces and façades of municipal architecture. With carefully chosen perspectives, he succeeds in reflecting the city as a phenomenon his simple, restrained view makes the unbelievable dimensions of modern cities an object of direct experience in his pictures. Modern megacities are involved in a process of architectural adaptation and Esch documents the process in a uniquely exciting way.
