Lorenza Lucchi Basili: Space Sixty One / Spazio Sessantuno, Berlino
2002 © Lorenza Lucchi Basili
With her first solo exhibition in Berlin 'Eighty Two Movements / Ottantadue Movimenti' the Italian artist Lorenza Lucchi Basili, who lives and works in Padua, gives us a view of her versatile photographic work. The main focus of her interest is on contemporary architecture.
The exhibition offers us a journey in time through the creativity of the artist, who has here made small-scale prints of the eighty-two photographic series she has created to date. The pictures often give an abstract impression, but they are nonetheless real and unmanipulated: they show us fragments or sections of buildings from many different angles, without any possibility of our identifying the architecture, its history or its location. The artist presents the individual shots of these eighty-two series by combining the pictures into an installation resembling a mosaic.
The Uqbar exhibition has been arranged in cooperation with the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin.
