'My artistic work arises from the experience of the transformation of places. My photographs are an exploration of the oppositions and connections of organism and geometry in architecture and the landscape.' (Norbert Wiesneth, 2008)
Since the time of Romanticism, the forest has been associated with an aura of fairytale and myth. It contains impenetrable depths and all kinds of fabulous creatures a magical and sometimes disquieting counterworld to our civilisation and culture. Unheard-of things, things never before seen, will be found in its heart...
With the strict and lucid composition of his pictures, created in various woodlands and shown in this exhibition for the first time, Norbert Wiesneth (born 1972) does not let himself in for any kind of romantic soul-searching. And yet it is this very restraint that gives him such an unflinching insight into the overgrown ramification of nature. (Inga Rensch / Galerie charlier)
