The permanent exhibition at the museum THE KENNEDYS illustrates the lives and impact of the Kennedy family in the light of photographs, personal belongings and historic documents. Now exclusively for the third European Month of Photography in Berlin, the museum is showing a special exhibition under the title of 'Magnum und die Kennedys' ['Magnum and the Kennedys']. The outstanding reputation of the Magnum Photos agency has been based on exemplary photographic reports, many of which have attained to iconic status as a part of our collective memory. The agency's works relating to the Kennedys are among its greatest achievements. The exhibition includes a selection of photographs by Elliot Erwitt, Cornell Capa and Paul Fusco. The latter's 'Funeral Train' documents the moving scenes that took place along the railway line at Robert Kennedy's last farewell in the year 1968. The profound shock at his tragically violent death can be seen in the faces of the mourners, documenting the grief and concern of an entire nation.
