This exhibition shows photos by German and Albanian artists who engage with the theme of space. This allows for a wide thematic variety from a highly personal approach that focuses on the artist's immediate environment to the investigation of the boundary between the public and private sphere, or from photographs with an identifiable locality to the question whether an artistic space is necessarily coextensive with the space of the artist.
In the summer of 2008 two exhibitions were being shown on the same theme in Tirana, the one involving twelve Albanian artists, the other with four Germans. A synthesis of the two will be created for the Third European Month of Photography in Berlin, as shown by the joint catalogue. The exhibition finds a concomitant reflection in Katharina Gaenssler's photographic installation at Galerie 18m.
The resemblance of the title to the internet platform myspace is no coincidence: many of the participating artists have their studio practically on their laptop digital and virtual space is an important locus for the creation of art.
