Ragnar Axelsson's photographs tell stories of human life and survival in a breathtaking natural setting. The protagonists his camera accompanies are peasants, fishermen, shepherds, foresters and hunters living in distant and desolate places like Iceland, Greenland, the Faeroe Islands or the Siberian steppe. The Icelandic photographer Ragnar Axelsson, also known as RAX, is an adventurer and conservationist. His black and white elegies testify to the glory of the landscape and human resistance in a world threatened by climatic change.
