Along with 13 other local groups, the Stettiner Kreis [Stettin Circle] belongs to the Verband Polnischer Fotokünstler [Association of Polish Photographic Artists], a professional photographic and at the same time artistic society to which only photographers with an established reputation are admitted. Founded in 1947, the Association has been a member of the World Council of Professional Photographers and the Federation of European Photographers since 1992. The Stettiner Kreis has been in existence since 1977, and comprises twelve members. In the last 30 years it has organised numerous exhibitions of both national and international importance. Its members come from different walks of society, and are for the most part full-time professional photographers. The variety of their professional interests, and the different paths that have led them to become photographers, may be seen in the themes covered by their work and in the wide range of photographic styles represented: photographic reporting, marine photography, nature, nudes, landscapes, computer graphics and creative and applied photography.
