LAURA MARS GRP.

Chris Dreier: Club St. Anthonys
2007 © Chris Dreier, Courtesy Laura Mars Grp.
On the occasion of the Third European Month of Photography, the Laura Mars Grp. gallery is presenting the series 'The Grim North', consisting of pinhole camera photographs taken by the artist Chris Dreier. The main emphasis of this, her first solo exhibition at Laura Mars Grp., is on a series of pictures of British working men's clubs relics from the days of full industrial employment supplemented by photographs of transport cafes and motifs from Northern Ireland, where peace has now been restored. All her photos, which have been taken with various home-made pinhole cameras, have one thing in common the aspect of future evanescence, the dying out and changing of these special places.
The series is supplemented with shots of some of Berlin's typical clubs along the banks of the Spree, which will soon have to give place to an investment-backed municipal conversion project.
