In their exhibition 'The Random Files' Alen Hebilovic and Richard Schütz are concerned with people and phenomena that lie outside the realm of the ordinary.
Alen Hebilovic's 'Bela 36' series shows the daily life of young people of Turkish or Arab origin, whose existence is characterised by criminality. Their life on the fringes of society makes us think of a game of poker, where every move is a gamble of 'all or nothing'.
The work of Richard Schütz documents the dwelling of a homeless person, whose aesthetics suggest a stage set. The eloquently disparate surface appearances of our internally and mutually eliminating materialistic cultures can be seen in his photographs.
Both artists are linked by their concern with constellations on the social periphery that may be incidental, but are nonetheless insistent, and which reveal the breakdown of our dreams and expectations of performance, possessions and fulfilment.
