In the subways of many a metropolis, such as Paris, Berlin, London, Moscow, New York and Bucharest , Loredana Nemes points her camera directly at the city nomads sitting right across from her. The close-ups generated in this process offer unobstructed insight and reveal a flash portrait of a moment in the fast moving metropolitan life of the passengers. With these portraits, the photographer has managed to create an unusual photographic journey presented in its entirety for the first time in this exhibition. In her sequential arrangement of the photographs, Loredana Nemes creates a relationship between individual images and groups, sets in motion a dialogue between human beings from different cities. These are the typical patterns of behaviour, that seem to have validity all over the world: leaning back in a corner, deeply absorbed, the gaze lost in thought, the sleepy daze moments that find people most as themselves, unmasked, without a shield of defence.
