'No one owns life, but anyone who can pick up a frying pan owns death.'
(William S. Burroughs)
The exhibition 'ce quil reste' ['what is left'] by the photographer Fred Kojder takes issue with the theme of transience. What will be left of us? Will it be a picture, a grave or a speck of rust? As human beings we leave signs of our existence behind, which later will tell a story about us. Fred Kojder tries in these pictures to discover these abiding traces, and to interrogate them through the medium of the camera.
Fred Kojder touches up the light he has captured in his own laboratory. The contrasts allow the objects to hover between an intuited and an overdrawn reality.
Born in 1969, Fred Kojder lives in Paris. These pictures characterised by decay and neglect are being shown in Berlin for the first time.
