Every day we are overwhelmed by a flood of images, so that it becomes quite impossible for individual ones to be interiorised. When travelling, however, we take the time to look more closely, to follow the images in a more relaxed way and try to capture them. Looking through the lens you see things in a different way, see them more clearly. You look for a good composition, the right angle of light and colours that harmonise.
Wilfried Vandepitte (aged 64) is a qualified electrical engineer who has taught at the Technical College in Brügge, Belgium. Since retirement he has travelled on a regular basis. On these trips his camera has been an indispensable accompaniment. The photos shown here were taken on his travels.
