Everything in the world seems to exist solely for the purpose of being photographed. Our bodies are volatile sores of creation. In the knowledge that every human body is in mourning because it consists of 80% water and 100% time, we shore our photographic fragments against its ruin using our digital cameras to arrest its fleeting existence, even though the photo once made shows us what has already become our irrecoverable past. For his new photographic exhibition 'Familienalbum eine Durchsicht' ['Family Album a Perusal'], Gerald Uhlig-Romero has assembled a selection from his world of digital photography and his photographic diary, so as to set recollection against the transience of time. Like buried treasures, these recollected images resurface in consciousness, metamorphosing into a new image and a new script.
