'netropolis' is concerned with the development of megacities. From the point of view of their spatial and informational concentration, the presentation of the city in the media and the virtual character that results from this are illuminated. The exhibition takes different panoramic views of the city, melts them into a landscape and transforms them into an abstract and multilayered web. Based on this conception, a completely new and imaginary urban way of being comes to birth 'netropolis', the metropolis of the future in the digital age.
'netropolis' consists of twelve large photographic works, a video and a three-dimensional pictorial sculpture. Cities represented are Berlin, Dubai, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, New York, Paris, Beijing, Sao Paulo, Shanghai and Tokyo.
Originally shown in 2006 at the International Architectural Biennial in Venice, 'netropolis' can now be seen at Galerie im Einstein from October to December 2008.
