The work of Hamburg photographer Roswitha Hecke focuses on the human being; and she sensitively portrays the most varied facets of daily life. The pictures of couples in this exhibition tell stories of love and heartbreak, joy and despair, sadness and joie de vivre without appearing in the least voyeuristic. They show people on the periphery of society, friends, flamboyant eccentrics, people in love. Hecke's style of presentation often seems to carry a breath of poetry. She never allows her subjects to appear ridiculous instead, we sense her evident affection for the people she depicts. It is the everyday that fascinates her nothing is more interesting than life.
