Paul Glaser has maintained a photographic record of changes in Berlins Kreuzberg district since 1970. Covering more than three decades, his pictures demonstrate how immigration has changed the face of Kreuzberg since the mid-sixties. Glasers typical themes include the struggle for education and political rights, and the Islamic influence. His photos document life in an inner-city area which the building of the Wall changed to a peripheral district one which developed a distinct dynamism of its own in the seventies, as new neighbourhoods came into being and the self-confidence of the immigrants rose.
Glaser has succeeded in creating an all-round picture of Kreuzberg from the point of view of a committed photographer and journalist.
