Photo Synthesis

Ricardo de Vicq

“The exhibition concept arose out of the observations and photographic documentation I made of Brazilian flora on a regular basis of Brazilian flora. Their wide variety includes both indigenous plants and those brought here in the colonial era by travelers from other parts of the world, plants that eventually found their place in the nature of the Brazilian coastal forests and that contributed to their present richness in terms of species, forms, and colors. Without any scientific aims, I put together a series of photographs that bring to light the hidden, abundant, surprising universe that goes to make up our jungles. If we delve into the various textures, contours, and life forms that grow and breathe here, we give ourselves over to nature’s beautiful and complex geometry, which the camera’s magic eye reveals.”

Ricardo de Vicq (born *1950 in Rio de Janeiro) began his career as a photographer in the 1970s. His artistic works have been shown in various solo and group exhibitions.
