Archivist meets artist... Shared working materials have given rise to more than 300 anonymous photographic albums, showing a great variety of private amateur shots.
On the occasion of the Third European Month of Photography in Berlin, BILDBÜRO and FOTOTHEK have formed a special partnership. Under the auspices of a public archive work, the gallery's temporary location constitutes at once an archive, a workspace, an exhibition area and a meeting point. The presentation of the collection creates the starting point for a joint archive work. The aim is to show this material from various points of view, anonymous as it is in terms of both form and content, as well as investigating and looking into its narrative, aesthetic and cultural aspects.
Yara-Colette Lemke de Faria has been working for many years as an analog and digital photographic archivist. Anke Heelemann manages the FOTOTHEK company in Weimar, specialising in forgotten private photographs, which has created a framework for artistic engagement with these anonymous pictorial materials.
