‘CONTINENT – In Search of Europe’ is a thematically organized group exhibition of the current 23 members of OSTKREUZ – Agentur der Fotografen  in cooperation with  Akademie der Künste.

In 22 artistic works created especially for the project, OSTKREUZ photographers explore various aspects of European coexistence and take a look at personal, social, and political phenomena as well as basic structures and historical developments. Their approach to tackling complex subject matter is thereby always through images of people and their environment.

The topics covered range from issues of identity and security, renationalization, migration, and integration to a basic understanding of humanism, democracy, and freedom of expression. What connects us? How do we live together? How will the European continent change, and how its people’s coexistence? These and other crucial questions put current discourse on Europe up for further debate, in photographic terms.

Award ceremony for the Ellen-Auerbach-Scholarship for Photography to Ferhat Bouda

Award ceremony

The Ellen Auerbach Scholarship for Photography goes to the Algerian photographer Ferhat Bouda. From the jury's statement: "Whether document, reportage or art is of no importance, Ferhat Bouda's images of the Berbers are characterized by a moving search for the human, an optical scanning that poses the question of humanity with every exposure. Eye and mind turn the apparatus towards a world whose stories are no longer heard, which we see with Bouda in order to hear them." Welcome: Jeanine Meerapfel; Laudation: Hubertus von Amelunxen; Artist talk with Barbara Klemm.
