Repeating Accidents

Johanna Jaeger

Johanna Jaeger approaches the conditions of photography conceptually. In her solo show at SCHWARZ CONTEMPORARY, ‘repeating accidents’, she presents staged photography that focuses on coincidence as a principle. The camera records what is exclusively visible from one angle or documents ephemeral situations. Spatial elements within the exhibition integrate the visitors on a corporeal level and make them part of a set.

Johanna Jaeger (*1985 in Heidelberg) studied visual arts in Montpellier, Berlin, and New York. Her work has been exhibited internationally, i.a. at Brandenburgischer Kunstverein Potsdam (2018), Braunschweig’s Museum for Photography (2017), the Hercules Art Studios in New York (2017), SCHWARZ CONTEMPORARY Berlin (2018, 2016, 2014), Galeria Starter Warsaw (2016), and Playground London (2017).
