Digital Accessibility Statement
Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH | EMOP Berlin – European Month of Photography strives to make its web presence barrier-free. The digital accessibility declaration is required by the Berlin Accessible Information and Communication Technology Act (BIKTG Bln). The technical requirements for accessibility result from the BITV 2.0. This declaration on digital accessibility applies to the website www.emop-berlin.eu
When was the accessibility statement created?
This declaration was created or revised on 11. December 2024. The technical verification of accessibility was carried out by the public body listed above by means of a self-assessment.
How accessible is the website?
The website is largely compatible with the requirements of BITV 2.0. We are endeavouring to continuously reduce remaining barriers and to eliminate them as far as possible.
Which parts of the website are not accessible?
1. Sections that are not accessible
1.1 Missing or incorrect labeling of headings, lists, quotations and foreign languages
Description: Occasionally, the hierarchical order of headings is not adhered to on various subpages, and in some cases quotations are not correctly marked as such in the source text. In individual cases, foreign-language words are not marked as such.
Accessible alternatives: We are not currently aware of any accessible alternatives. We are constantly striving for editorial improvement.
1.2 PDF documents are not accessible
Description: Provided PDF documents that are in active use and do not have an archive character are not implemented according to the PDF/UA standard and are not accessible.
Accessible alternatives: For the time being, please contact us at pr@kulturprojekte.berlin if you require press releases in the corresponding PDF standard. We are also available by telephone on +49 (0)30 24749-700.
2. Disproportionate burden
Subareas that are not designed to be accessible, as it would be a disproportionate burden. (BIKTG Bln §4 paragraph 3)
2.1 Missing alternative texts for graphics and object (external content)
Description: A large proportion of the non-linked graphics and images obtained from external sources are not provided with alternative texts. This primarily concerns graphics and images of exhibitions and events of the museums.
Explanation of why there is disproportionate burden: EMOP Berlin obtains external data on exhibitions and events from external sources: Data is automatically imported via the interface of the Kulturprojekte database (www.datenhub.kulturprojekte.berlin), which is entered independently by the editors of the participating partners. It is not feasible for the editors of EMOP Berlin to carry out editorial checks on these very large amounts of data, which would place a disproportionate burden on them. The editors of EMOP Berlin continue to advise the participating institutions of the need to provide alternative texts for graphics and objects.
3. No use case
Content that does not fall within the scope of the Barrierefreie-IKT-Gesetz Berlin and therefore does not have to be accessible (due to BIKTG Bln, § 4 paragraph 4)
3.1 Use of online and map services
Description: Online map services (Mapbox) are implemented on the website. These are not fully optimised for control with a screen reader or keyboard operability. An online map service is integrated on the subpage exhibitions and on the detail pages of exhibitions and events.
Accessible alternative: Information on travelling to or attending an event / exhibition is also provided as text on all the pages mentioned. This means that the essential information is presented in an accessible way for navigation purposes.
