How is a collective memory formed and how much can it be influenced and manipulated? Using the example of two architectural monuments, disthene traces Berlin's history and reveals the connection between monuments and a general awareness of history. The relationship between historical events and their representation presents itself as fragile - as a scar between past and present that can not only direct the view at the future, but can also dangerously disguise them.
