In times of great upheaval and change caused by the climate crisis, the increasing loss of functioning ecosystems, species extinction, wars, flight, pandemics, and artificial intelligence, artists Ute Behrend, Thomas Florschuetz, Margret Hoppe, Sven Johne, Kerstin Flake, Peter Freitag, Sebastian Stumpf, Anett Stuth, and Anna Vovan explore the interaction between human society and nature. In a multiplicity of ways, they address the Age of the Anthropocene and the accelerating effects of humanity’s interference in every corner of the Earth. Despite their different points of focus and stylistic devices, the individual works engage with one another in a meaningful way while summarizing the important questions of our time. In these complex platforms for thought and communication, they speak to the natural and the hypernatural.
