Photographer Liz Johnson Artur has been working on her ever-expanding, analogue-only Black Balloon Archive since 1991. Alongside photographs, the archive – elements of which are transferred into installations – also includes video works and notebooks with sketches. Maren Lübbke-Tidow and Rebecca Wilton of the Lighting the Archive initiative take the question of her ways of organising and dealing with the material as an occasion to speak with the photographer about her work and its modes of archiving.
