‘Out of nowhere, you were suddenly sitting on my windowsill. Like a firefly. Within a second, you were everything to me. Within a minute I was nothing to you. A minute that turned my inner world upside down. Sometimes I sit on my windowsill and wonder: did any of this ever really happen?’
The work Arrêt explores differing expectations, co-dependency, and its impact on lived reality. As Nils Lucas Mund comes to terms with a relationship, he struggles with total idealization and a loss of self-awareness. Drawing from personal experience, he uses photographic staging to develop a sense of his lost identity. The artistic process itself becomes an important part of his reflection. The work consists of archival photographs, new visual works, and texts. Analogue post-development processes, reproduction, and scanning convey the emotional context of the situation.
