Artist Talk
Photos in Books: Camera Austria I Landscapes of Radicalization: Jakob Ganslmeier & Ana Zibelnik
in Conversation with Raimar Stange

As part of Photos in Books, Jakob Ganslmeier & Ana Zibelnik will speak to author Raimar Stange, who also conducted an interview with both of them for the March issue of Camera Austria International, about their current artistic work. Starting with the installation Bereitschaft (2024), they shed light on how visual narratives rooted in fascism reach the mainstream via social media platforms and TikTok in particular, and how the artist duo address these in their installations. Another focus of the conversation will be the photo series Fault Line (2023–ongoing) which can be seen during EMOP Berlin at c/o roam projects e.V. (hosted by the Slovenian Cultural Center Berlin). In the series, Ganslmeier & Zibelnik focus on societal responses to the ongoing climate crisis, including those from the far right.

Jakob Ganslmeier (b. 1990 in Munich, DE) & Ana Zibelnik (b. 1995 in Ljubljana, SI) are an artist duo who collaborate on photography and video projects centered around youth identity formation. Their works, including Fault Line (2023–ongoing), Bereitschaft (2024), and Redpilled (2023), delve into societal issues such as climate anxiety, online trends, and the influence of extreme ideologies on young people.

Raimar Stange studied literature and philosophy, nowadays he works and lives in Berlin (DE) as a freelance critic and curator.
