In her artist's book Stehen Liegen Hängen (Standing Lying Hanging), Dörte Eißfeldt takes us to the place where her paintings were created and continue to be created, to her studio – the central point of reference in her oeuvre. She allows us to share her personal view of her works, of combinations and situations in the studio. The prints change their positions, are attached to the wall with clips and magnets, hung upside down, placed upright, laid down, folded. She also uses the pages of the book to compose the works and encounter them again and again.

Dörte Eißfeldt is an artist and was professor of Photography/Free Art at the HBK Braunschweig 1991-2016.

Steffen Siegel is professor of Theory and History of Photography at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, where he heads the Master's programme and the the doctoral programme on the history of photography. He is also chairman of the of the Essen Centre for Photography.
