The works of photographer Volker Kreidler have been addressing social upheavals in the post-Soviet world for many years. His work tinder is a photographic research project that explores various dating portals in Ukraine. Ultimately, Kreidler is interested in the real personality hidden behind the self-portrayals the platforms’ users display. 

The reasons people have for creating a profile and searching there are as complex as the individuals themselves. Kreidler’s method of contacting people for his photographic project adhered to the rules governing these platforms – a photo session resulted only where a real date had taken place.
