A Polaroid exhibition on manipulation
Ina Echternach, Urizen Freaza, Antonia Gruber, Barbara Schieb, Ian Wainaina, Daniel Wetzel

In this exhibition, instant photography assumes a special role – not only as something that captures reality, but also as a medium that can be changed and shaped at will. In a world dominated by digital and AI-generated images, instant photography establishes a tangible connection to reality. But reality is never static, and neither is the medium that depicts it. This exhibition explores both the authenticity of instant photography and the possibilities of transforming it through artistic intervention. By reworking materials and pursuing experimental approaches, the artists expand photography beyond mere representation to create dynamic, expressive works. These reinterpreted images challenge the boundary between art and reality, inviting viewers to reflect on how meaning is created through manipulation and the influence of time. Instant photography thus transcends its original form and becomes a living artifact – shaped by human creativity, interaction, and intention.
